This research project sought to further understanding of the current state of inclusion for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in the mainstream, secondary classroom. Academic and popular literature would suggest that the current state of affairs is ineffective or inconsistent at best, and that teachers need better training to support these students. During two in-depth, semi-structured interviews, teachers shared their experiences of inclusion of ASD students in their classrooms. The findings point to the importance of professional development and collaboration with colleagues and administrators as a means to increase confidence and perceptions of effectiveness.
